Gold and Silver ...
“… are very dear to me and I can use them very well,” is a line of a well known folk song. Well, everyone would like to have a gold or silver treasure, and could use it well when difficult times lie ahead.
The visit of the Officers’ Ball 2012 also represents a treasure, which is immaterial but nevertheless unique in its value. A night in the magnificent halls of the Vienna Hofburg Palace, with its glistening marble halls, sparkling crystal chandeliers and shining parquet floors, filled with the silvery sounds of string orchestras will carry you off to a world of harmony and splendour.
The golden rank insignia on the officers’ uniforms from all over the world, the silvery medals and the tasteful evening gowns create an atmosphere of elegance, easiness and sheer joy of living. By right, the Viennese ball season has been declared a national, intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. Therefore, when the Young Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Dance Committee opens the Officers’ Ball 2012 to the tune of the incomparably beautiful waltz “Gold and Silver,” we wish for all our guests to be near their treasured ones and to enjoy the abundance of Vienna’s ball culture.
